Young Woonam, who had set his heart on becoming an army for national independence at the time when Japanese imperialism had ravaged our country and gloomy clouds had hanged over the whole country, was placed under arrest to Japanese army and confined to its prison on his way to Manchuria. He also languished in Seodaemoon prison for two years while he recruited Buddhist monks to firmly resist against Japanese imperialism at the spearhead of independence movement when the Korean Independence Movement of 1919, 3.1 Movement.

Subsequently, he went over to China to devote himself to his studies, but on the other hand he rallied like-minded patriots scattered to all parts of China under the flag of independence movement, and he unified with a provisional government to consolidate the power of unity, which he took office as a state minister of it to go into political activities as the only Buddhist monk.

After liberation he advocated left-right wing cooperation, and was also involved in the Progressive Party Commission through contact with Jo Bong-am. Since 5.16 military coup led by Park Jung-hee, he served his term of imprisonment again due to so-called 'Unified Socialist Party' event. At the twilight of his life, he, who gets a house through the kind offices of close acquaintances, named it 'Peewoojung' to stay at it, and then died in 1969.
